About the Role:

This innovative charter school in Brooklyn is seeking a dedicated Middle School Spanish Teacher to join their team for the 2025 school year. This is an exciting opportunity to foster language acquisition and cultural appreciation in a dynamic and supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop their Spanish proficiency while deepening their understanding of Hispanic cultures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement an engaging, standards-aligned Spanish curriculum that builds proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

  • Foster a culturally responsive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel confident using Spanish in real-world contexts.

  • Use immersive teaching strategies such as storytelling, music, role-playing, and project-based learning to enhance language acquisition.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including heritage speakers and beginners.

  • Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments, adjusting instruction as needed.

  • Integrate technology and multimedia resources to enhance language learning.

  • Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.

  • Communicate regularly with families, providing updates on student progress and language development strategies.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, Linguistics, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (middle school preferred).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Spanish and strong knowledge of second-language acquisition strategies.

  • Experience with communicative and immersion-based teaching methods.

  • Excellent classroom management and student engagement techniques.

  • Ability to differentiate instruction for students at varying proficiency levels.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and staff.

  • Familiarity with Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Restorative Practices is a plus.

  • Passion for fostering global awareness and cultural appreciation in students.

Additional qualifications include:

  • A degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree in education, Spanish, or a related field.

  • Teaching certification in your home country.
