About the Role:

This innovative charter school in Brooklyn is seeking a passionate Middle School Music Teacher to join their team for the 2025 school year. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students through music, creativity, and performance in a dynamic and supportive learning environment that values the arts as an essential part of education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an engaging music curriculum that includes music theory, vocal and instrumental instruction, and music appreciation.

  • Teach students a variety of musical styles, techniques, and cultural influences.

  • Direct and organize school concerts, performances, and community music events.

  • Provide differentiated instruction to support students with varying levels of musical experience.

  • Incorporate technology and multimedia tools to enhance music instruction.

  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and a love for music.

  • Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.

  • Maintain and care for musical instruments, equipment, and classroom resources.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (middle school preferred).

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of music theory, vocal and instrumental techniques, and performance practices.

  • Ability to teach a variety of musical styles and genres.

  • Experience directing ensembles, choirs, or instrumental groups is a plus.

  • Excellent classroom management and student engagement strategies.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and staff.

  • Ability to integrate music history and cultural perspectives into lessons.

  • Passion for making music education accessible and engaging for all students.

Additional qualifications include:

  • A degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree in education, music, or a related field.

  • Teaching certification in your home country.
