About the Role:
A dynamic and community-oriented charter school located in Washington, D.C., is seeking a passionate Middle School SPED Teacher for the 2025 school year. The ideal candidate will be passionate about mathematics and committed to helping students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This position offers the opportunity to foster a love of math in young learners while supporting their academic growth in a dynamic, diverse, and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned math lessons for middle school students.
Teach key math concepts, including algebra, geometry, statistics, and basic arithmetic, in a hands-on and accessible way.
Create a positive classroom culture that encourages collaboration, curiosity, and persistence in solving mathematical problems.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students, including those who need additional support and those who require enrichment.
Use formative and summative assessments to track student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
Integrate technology and real-world applications into math lessons to enhance understanding and engagement.
Foster a growth mindset, encouraging students to embrace challenges and develop perseverance.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to support student success and progress.
Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to continuously improve instructional practices and student outcomes.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in reading or language arts.
Skills:
Strong content knowledge in middle school math, including algebra, geometry, and statistics.
Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and engaging way.
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to foster a collaborative, positive learning environment.
Passion for making math relevant and engaging for all students.

Additional qualifications include:
A degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree in education or a related subject.
Teaching qualifications in your home country for primary or secondary schools.
