About the Role:
A high-performing public charter school in Memphis, TN, and part of a nationally recognized network, is seeking a Middle School Social Studies Teacher for the 2025 school year. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator passionate about history, civics, geography, and cultural studies to inspire and engage students. The ideal candidate will create a rigorous, interactive, and thought-provoking classroom environment while fostering critical thinking and a love for learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans in history, geography, government, and economics.
Foster a student-centered classroom that encourages debate, inquiry, and critical thinking.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and support all students.
Use data-driven instruction to assess student progress and adjust strategies accordingly.
Integrate technology, primary sources, and project-based learning into instruction.
Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues to support student success.
Collaborate with school leadership and other educators to enhance curriculum and instructional practices.
Participate in professional development and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Political Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Experience: Minimum of two years of teaching experience in middle school social studies or a related field.
Certification: Must hold or be eligible for a state teaching license in social studies or a related subject.
Skills:
Strong belief in the school’s mission and commitment to educational equity.
Ability to create an engaging and structured classroom environment.
Experience using data to drive student achievement.
Excellent collaboration, communication, and classroom management skills.

Additional qualifications include:
A degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree in education or a related subject.
Teaching credentials in your home country for primary or secondary education.
