About the Role:
This innovative charter school in Brooklyn is seeking a dedicated Middle School ENL (English as a New Language) Teacher to join their team for the 2025 school year. This is an exciting opportunity to support multilingual learners in a dynamic and inclusive environment that values language development, cultural diversity, and student-centered learning.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement engaging, research-based lessons to develop students' English proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

Provide targeted language instruction aligned with state standards and individual student needs.

Support multilingual learners in accessing grade-level content across subject areas through scaffolding and differentiated instruction.

Use a variety of assessment tools to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.

Collaborate with content teachers to implement strategies that support English learners in mainstream classrooms.

Foster a culturally responsive and inclusive classroom environment that values students' linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Communicate regularly with families, providing updates on student progress and strategies for supporting language development at home.

Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives focused on multilingual learners.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (middle school preferred).
Skills:

Strong understanding of language acquisition and best practices for English learners.

Experience using scaffolding, sheltered instruction (SIOP), and other ENL instructional strategies.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with students, families, and staff.

Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students at varying language proficiency levels.

Proficiency in integrating technology to enhance language learning.

Experience with co-teaching and collaboration models is a plus.

Familiarity with Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Restorative Practices is beneficial.

Additional qualifications include:

A degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree in education, TESOL, or a related field.

Teaching certification in your home country.
