About the Role:
A high-performing public charter school in Phoenix, AZ, and part of a nationally recognized network, is seeking a High School English Teacher for the 2025 school year. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator passionate about literature, writing, and critical thinking to inspire students in a rigorous, college-preparatory environment. The ideal candidate will cultivate a love for reading and writing, challenge students with engaging and thought-provoking coursework, and help develop strong analytical and communication skills. As it is a small school, the teacher will also be responsible for taking one period of social studies or art.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement standards-aligned lesson plans that foster a deep appreciation for literature and effective writing.
Create a structured, engaging, and student-centered classroom environment.
Teach and assess skills in reading comprehension, literary analysis, creative and expository writing, and public speaking.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and promote academic growth.
Utilize data-driven instruction to track student progress and refine teaching strategies.
Incorporate technology, debate, project-based learning, and interdisciplinary connections into lessons.
Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues to support academic and social-emotional development.
Engage in professional development and collaboration to continuously enhance instruction.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Experience: Minimum of two years of teaching experience in high school English.
Certification: Must hold or be eligible for an Arizona state teaching license in English.
Skills:
Passion for literary studies, writing instruction, and educational equity.
Strong classroom management and the ability to foster high academic expectations.
Experience using data to drive student achievement.
Excellent collaboration, communication, and instructional skills.

Additional qualifications include:
A degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree in education or a related subject.
Teaching credentials in your home country for secondary education.
At least two years of full-time teaching experience or equivalent qualifications.
